There’s great news for poker players from the Philippines. The Asian Poker Tour (APT) is returning to the island nation with the 2010 APT Philippines event. I know for a fact that when this 7-day tournament kicks of on August 23rd, players will be doing back-flips at Resorts World in Manilla. For those of you skilled enough to participate there’s a $2,5k buy in + $200 for the Main Event.
The short answer – lots more. There are 8 premier side events at this year’s Asian Poker Tour. These include a Greed Tournament, a Pot-Limit Omaha event and a High Roller’s Tournament. If you recall the 2009 APT was won by Neil Arce a homegrown Filipino. He cashed up to the tune of $185k. Incidentally, this was the first time a local player won a world-class event in the Philippines. I’m backing a new winner this year – simply because the amount of raw poker talent out there is immense.
If you’re interested in learning more you can check out places like the iPoker Network and even PartyPoker for qualifying games into this prestigious APT event. The 2010 Main Event will be held at Resorts World Manila – across from Terminal 3 of the NAIA (International Airport). See you there!
