Baccarat is an easy game, you’re basically betting on a coin flip. The house edge is a modest 1.06% and the game has a very “elegant” feel.
It’s easy to assume betting strategy is fairly limited, but there are some ways to capitalize.
Play the Banker – Banker wins charge a 5% commission, but even with the commission betting on banker is a good decision. The Banker wins about 5 more hands per shoe than player. After a banker win bet 2 units on banker, with a win drop to 1 unit and add one unit for each win. After a loss drop by to the original 2 unit bet.
The reason you see score pads and pencils and electronic scoreboards at the tables is baccarat is an incredibly streaky game. Long streaks of player or banker wins happen almost every shoe. Your goal is to catch one of the streaks.
Catch the Streak
Streaks of 8 or more Player wins are fairly common. Wait for a player win and once again bet 2 units and repeat the same betting unit measure as in the banker model. If you catch a streak you’ll find yourself with a nice profit. Many players will play the streak and then wait for the next shoe.
Find the Lucky Player
Occasionally you’ll see a player that has no obvious rhyme or reason, but keeps winning. Bet with that player. Most casinos will let you place your bet right beside of his.
The Tie Bet
The tie bet has a house edge of over 14% and isn’t very streaky. You can’t beat the vig.
