Biggest Poker Prize in Philippine History

BinhJust a couple of days ago, Poker Stars announced the huge 20-day schedule of events for the fourth season of the Poker Stars Asia Pacific Tour (APPT). The Macau Spring Festival of Poker will be taking place at Casino Grand Lisboa between 3 May and 23 May 2010. The Main Event is anticipated to draw elite crowd of poker players from around the global.
The season began just a couple of weeks ago in the Philippines with the ‘APPT Manilla: PAGCOR Chairman’s Cup’ smashing its $1 million USD guarantee. More than 430 players competed for the prize pool and the event turned out to be the largest poker tournament ever in the Philippines. Eventually, however, the top prize went to an American poker player from Las Vegas, Binh Nguyen (pictured here). He won what was the biggest prize in Philippine poker history … a cool $260,700. Nguyen was apparently impressed with the event and how smoothly it ran. Our top five placed local talent in the event was Kirby Te (8th place), Ramil Gentugaya (12th place), Marc Rivera (16th place), Eric Sia (20th place) and Jose Garcia (25th place).
