Poker in the Philippines

It’s well known that there is a growing poker culture across Asia … and the Philippines is no exception.  In fact, poker is so popular in the Philippines it is the fastest-growing poker nation in Asia thanks to a relatively recent proliferation of safe and secure online poker rooms. The country has actually been billed as one of Asia’s leading poker markets. The first event of the 2009 Asia Poker Tour was held in the Philippines in January and more than 260 players representing over 30 countries attended. Plus, a number of local players have started to make their presence felt on the international poker circuit such as Alfredo ‘Toto’ Leonidas, Derick Hernandez and Neil Acre.
