What is a ‘bonus abuser’?

It’s because of bonus abusers that honest players are subject to higher wagering requirements, more stringent identification processes or even ineligible for bonuses because of the country they are from. The purpose of casino bonuses is to encourage new players to a casino.  In other words, it is not to give players free money for whatever purpose they choose. So as a way of ensuring that bonuses are in fact used to wager at the casino, the casino industry invented the concept of wagering requirements. The sign up or welcome bonus is the bonus type most commonly abused and is done by players registering with the same casino under different names. In response, casinos now invest much more time and energy into verifying the identity of their players by insisting upon proof of name and address. And those countries that became renowned for bonus abusers are now blacklisted for bonuses.

If a casino suspects that you are a bonus abuser, you will be lose your bonus privileges and one recommended way to minimise the risk of this occurring is to bet more than the minimum wagering requirement. You will come across dozens and dozens of stories in online gambling forums of players losing out on their bonuses because they were considered by the casino to be abusing them.
